What if you could just skip Monday? Apparently, in Jake's world, you can.
Jake missed school last Thursday and Friday because he was sick. On Friday afternoon, we 'discussed' the time he was missing from school. Of course, by 'discussed' I mean that I was offering up a monologue about how he missed 2 days because of his cold and then had another 2 days away from school because of the weekend. I thought I was reassuring him that our normal routine would soon resume when I told him that he would return to school on Monday.
"I don't want to go to school!"
"But, Jake, you like school. Remember? You get to go back on Monday."
"Then, we'll not have Monday!"
So now here we are, on this day formerly known as Monday, stuck at home once again. Jake still has a cough. He's not quite well enough to go to school, but somehow has just enough energy to drive a mama crazy.
Evidently, my little guy has more pull with the powers that be than I thought. I wonder if he will take requests...

We're skipping Monday in Maryland, too! That Jake has a long reach! Can you get him to let up just a little on the amount of snow? We have enough for two days off.

I have one trying another route. Today I was passing out OLE because everyone was a little bit sick. When I came to my 9 year old and told him to take his olive leaf extract because people in the house have coughs and sore throats his reply was "no thank you!" I know that trick, he wants to get sick so he can stay home, no sireee!
Did you have a Tuesday? We didn't here in southwest Virginia -- and as far as I can see, it's cold as . . . but the roads are clear and the sun is shining like crazy.
Please ask Jake the Weatherboy to let up a bit, huh? Somebody will suspect something, and this seems like a good secret weapon for his school-connected aunts.
How can we contact him in the fufture to request more snow days? A spotlight shining against the sky with a giant snowflake in the middle a la batman?
